A bespoke tale behind Baruni

Baruni carries Fadwa Baruni's family name, one known for education, leadership, integrity, strength, and confidence. Fadwa studied art and fashion design at Edinburgh College of Art, after an earlier career in engineering, before launching Baruni. She remains hands-on today: sourcing fabrics, developing designs, and guiding every stage of production.

Baruni's luxury women's dresses are designed mainly for weddings, evening events, galas, and mother-of-the-bride occasions, as well as Ramadan and Eid, elevated daywear, resort wear, and kaftans. Built beyond short-lived trends, many pieces are still worn and still complimented fifteen years after they were bought.

Designed in Dubai, Guided by a "Less Is More" Philosophy

Most Baruni manufacturing takes place in-house in Dubai. Fadwa has trained her team closely — several tailors have worked with her for more than a decade, with some progressing into master cutters and pattern-makers. Baruni develops its own colours and custom weaves, and every garment is finished with breathable linings, so it's as comfortable inside as it is beautiful outside.

The shirt gown is a Baruni signature, combining femininity with an element of authority. Its buttons let a woman adjust her own coverage without ever looking flashy, and because it goes on last, it won't disturb hair or makeup already done. It's the clearest expression of Baruni's less-is-more philosophy: showing personality rather than skin, striking in a classy way, never a flashy one.

What Makes Baruni Different?

16 years of design experience
Fadwa Baruni brings sixteen years of experience designing strong, classic pieces that aren't driven by short-lived trends.

In-house Dubai craftsmanship
Most garments are made in Dubai by Fadwa's own trained team including tailors who've worked with her for 12 years and become master cutters and pattern-makers.

The signature shirt gown

FAQs

Most Baruni pieces are priced between $400 and $700 reflecting custom-developed fabrics, in-housecraftsmanshipin Dubai, and construction built to last well beyond one season.

Baruni is worn by women from their 30s through their 60s and beyond, who want strong, classic pieces built to last well beyond one season for weddings, events, Ramadan, Eid, and elevated everyday dressing.

Yes. Many Baruni pieces are designed to move beyond a single event. Our shirt gowns and daytime styles work equally well for elevated everyday dressing, dinners, or smaller gatherings, not just weddings and galas. A change in styling, hair, makeup, or jewellery can also shift the same dress from formal to relaxed. It'snot unusual for customers to tell usthey'restill wearing, and still being complimented on, dresses bought fifteen years ago.

No. Alongsideoccasionwear, the collection includes elevated daywear, resort pieces, and kaftans. Most Baruni kaftans are designed to be worn year-round, not just for Ramadan.

Every Baruni collection includes pieces developed with our own colours and custom weaves, created in partnership with specialised fabric mills rather than chosen fromwhat'salready available off the shelf, so those pieces feel part of a considered whole rather than assembled from generic fabric. Every garment, whichever fabricit'sbuilt from, is also finished with breathable linings, so it feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. The garments themselves are then constructed in-house in Dubai, where the rest of the design andcraftsmanshipprocess takes place.

Comfort matters as much as appearance, especially for weddings, galas, and other long events, where a dress needs to hold up for hours, not just a photo. That'swhy every Baruni garment is finished with breathable linings, and why pieces like our shirt gown are designed to move easily, whether standing through a ceremony or dancing at the reception after. It'salso why so many customers tell usthey'restill wearing, and still being complimented on, dresses they bought years ago: comfort is part of what makes a dress worth returning to.

Yes. Baruni's summer and resort dresses can be ordered worldwide through baruni.co, as well as throughFarfetch. We currently see strong demand from customers in the USA, UK, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, and Hong Kong, alongside our GCC customer base. You'llalso find us in leading department stores across the GCC, with online ordering open everywhere.

Fadwa Baruni has spent sixteen years designing strong, classic pieces built to outlast a single season, not chase whatever's trending. Every garment is constructed in-house in Dubai by a team she's trained herself, several for over a decade, with the same attention to fit, fabric, and finish that goes into a piece meant to be wornagain and again. It shows in the results: customersregularly tellusthey'restill wearing, and still being complimented on, dresses they bought fifteen years ago.
